Our Mission

The Artsy Athenaeum is committed to empowering children throughout the New York metropolitan area to achieve their highest potential in reading, mathematics, and STEM education. Through innovative, hands-on learning experiences, we combine the arts with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to create engaging educational opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.

We believe children learn best by doing. By integrating art, outdoor exploration, community gardens, museum experiences, and STEM-based activities, we help students develop critical thinking skills both inside and outside the classroom. Our programs provide families with practical tools and resources to support academic growth and foster a culture of learning at home.

Our proven approach has helped students improve their reading performance by multiple grade levels within a six-month period, demonstrating the impact of experiential and community-centered education. Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as New York Public Library, Solar One, East New York Farms, GreenThumb NYC, and Sankofa Learning Place, we expand access to high-quality educational opportunities that strengthen academic achievement and community engagement.

As a community-based and community-focused organization, we are dedicated to nurturing civic responsibility, educational excellence, and leadership among young people.
